Thank you for the work that you have done so far. I will be leaving the tasks open during the holidays for those that would like to continue with phonics play, my maths, teach your monster to read, SPAG, spelling shed and numbots.
White Rose Maths have put some Easter activities on which will be updated daily. Here is the Facebook link for the page https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/easter-fun/
Don’t forget to like our school Facebook page too!
I have attached a book template for your extreme reading challenge.
Have fun and enjoy your Easter break!
Hello everybody, it feels very strange in school at the moment and all of the staff are missing you lots! We hope that you are all keeping safe and well. Although it is half term and school won’t be adding weekly tasks for you, we wanted to set a fun activity for you to complete over the Easter break.
Our Extreme Reading Challenge begins now! We want you to read a book in the most extreme place (please make sure this is safe). Here are some of our staff completing their own extreme reads from home! We thought you might like to see what we’ve been doing too.
Alongside your extreme reading photo we would love you to complete a book review to teach others about the book that you have read. Here are some examples below. You will find a template for the book review on your class page.
Please email your extreme reading photographs alongside your book reviews to Latchford_Primary@warrington.gov.uk
These will be used to begin our extreme reading displays in school. Please note in your email whether you give permission for your photograph and book review to feature on our school website and/or Facebook page.
Happy Extreme Reading, have a lovely Easter break!
Well done year 1! I have seen that a lot of you have been working on the tasks that were set – I will leave these activities open until the end of this week and add the new work for those that are ready. I hope that you have managed to get some time outside this week in the garden or going for a walk or bike ride with family.

For reading/writing I have assigned a book from Serial Mash diamonds called Little Red. Work has been set on all chapters 1 – 5 with supporting tasks. This will also be available during the Easter holiday. Please complete the GPS activity (Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling activity) at the end of each chapter. http://www.purplemash.com (Click on 2 do)
In science and topic we would now be focused on the weather (Seasonal Changes).
There is a link available via Hamilton Trust for free science work https://www.hamilton-trust.org.uk/science/year-1-science/ Click on ‘Wonderful Weather’ then the arrow on the right hand side to access things to do (Listed as sessions 1-6). This is just for ideas and guidance as weather can be a focus over the next couple of weeks too.
Weather is an ideal topic to work on outside in the garden or yard to get some fresh air. It is an ideal topic for discussion and the opportunity to talk about what is happening/changing with the weather each day.
To keep yourselves fit this week Joe Wicks will continue each morning https://youtu.be/Rz0go1pTda8
Yoga is available via Cosmic Yoga. This week, it is based around Pokemon https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbCjkPlsaes
Please get in touch via the e mail on Purple Mash if there are any problems.
We hope that you enjoy your learning this week !
