Hello Year 2!
Thank you for all your hard work over the last two very strange weeks (parents and carers included). Since the next two weeks would have been the Easter break I won’t be setting any extra work for you to do but I still recommend you continue on Spelling Shed and TTRS/Numbots.
Though there will be no new work, the whole school has been set a reading challenge!
If you check out the main page on the school’s website, you’ll see some information about our Latchford St James Extreme Reading Challenge! You’ll also see the teacher’s extreme reads as well as their own book reviews. We want to see you and even your family reading in the most extreme (while still safe) places you can think of! Snap a picture and email it to the school so we can see what you’re reading and just how extreme you can get!
Take care, and I hope to see you all soon,
Hello everybody, it feels very strange in school at the moment and all of the staff are missing you lots! We hope that you are all keeping safe and well. Although it is half term and school won’t be adding weekly tasks for you, we wanted to set a fun activity for you to complete over the Easter break.
Our Extreme Reading Challenge begins now! We want you to read a book in the most extreme place (please make sure this is safe). Here are some of our staff completing their own extreme reads from home! We thought you might like to see what we’ve been doing too.
Alongside your extreme reading photo we would love you to complete a book review to teach others about the book that you have read. Here are some examples below. You will find a template for the book review on your class page.
Please email your extreme reading photographs alongside your book reviews to Latchford_Primary@warrington.gov.uk
These will be used to begin our extreme reading displays in school. Please note in your email whether you give permission for your photograph and book review to feature on our school website and/or Facebook page.
Happy Extreme Reading, have a lovely Easter break!
Home Learning Week 2
Hi Year 2,
I hope you are enjoying the sunshine and are able to get some fresh air out in your gardens. I have been thinking of you all and I hope you have all enjoyed the home learning activities I set last week.
Any questions on any of the tasks then you can get in touch with me via Purple Mash. Go to Computing/2Email. It will look like this:
Go to www.mymaths.co.uk and work through an activity each day. There are seven to choose from for the next week.
On www.purplemash.com play the ‘Bond Bubbles’ game. Go to Home/Maths/Games/Launch App/Challenge A.
Visit www.spag.com and complete the tests set. Two new activities have been added for the next week.
On www.purplemash.com go to Home/Topics/Write a postcard. Choose the blank postcard and write about a day at home. You could mention how you feel about not being at school, anything fun you’ve done with your family and what you’re looking forward to when you get back to school.
Visit ‘Once Upon A Picture’ and complete the writing activity for ‘Cliff’ under ‘Character Collection’. Can you make your own character using the suggestions? Draw your character in your home learning book and use adjectives to describe it. For example,
Willow is a tall, thin lady with long, flowing hair. She has enormous, brown eyes that can see through any object. Her body is tough and thick because she is so old. She speaks quietly, like a whisper and is very shy. On top of her head is a… Every time she moves she… When she is angry…
Visit www.purplemash.com and read a text from ‘Serial Mash’. Remember to complete the quizzes and activities for the text you chose.
Continue to visit www.readtheory.org and complete the comprehensions.
We have a new spelling pattern and the next set of Common Exception Words to practise at www.spellingshed.co.uk
Go to www.phonicsplay.co.uk and practise any of the Phase 5 games.
