Yesterday, Mr Smith and Mrs Jevans took Year 4 on the adventure of a lifetime! Our day involved lots of travelling, lots of walking, lots of dancing and lots of history! It began at Bank Quay where we boarded the train to the capital.
After a brisk walk through Bloomsbury, we arrived in Covent Garden and the world famous Pineapple Studios.
We climbed the stairs that countless stars of stage and screen had tread before: Madonna, Beyoncé and Kylie Minogue as well as thousands of others.
In our studio, we met our dance teacher who led our workshop. Children (and teachers) learned an amazing routine – take a look at our pictures below. The whole session was brilliant and we had a fantastic time.
After Pineapple Studios, we headed back up to Bloomsbury for the British Museum, a stunning, neo-classical building containing millions of artefacts and art works.
Once inside, we explored the Ancient Egyptian gallery where we saw statues, friezes, sarcophaguses and even the Rosetta Stone. Our little historians were fascinated but also extremely knowledgeable – some of the tourists crowded in to hear what our children had to say!
Before returning to Euston Station for our return journey, we stopped at Mr Flute’s favourite Pizza Hut for a slap up meal. Our day was an amazing adventure that was enjoyed by all. We are very grateful to our brilliant staff: Mr Smith, Mrs Jevans and Miss Williams for all of their hard work, good humour and sense of adventure! Many thanks also to Mrs Tipping doing all of the sums, making all of the bookings and making all of our out of school adventures run like clockwork!
On Wednesday 28th of February year 3 and 4 were given the wonderful opportunity to go over to the site of the restoration work, currently being done at the Cenotaph at Bridgefoot. We met up with civil engineer Ryan who explained all the work that is going into repairing the Cenotaph and told us lots of interesting things about how the Cenotaph was constructed almost 100 years ago and what is now being done to keep it standing for 100s more years.
Year 4, as well the the rest of the school, had a fantastic day at Chester Zoo before half term. We saw lots of interesting animals learnt lots about them and even a few brave children ventured into the bat cave! Take a look at some of the pictures below!
