This week, across school we had our annual science day. In year 4 we investigated how water effects lots of different objects including skittles and M&Ms! We asked scientific enquiry questions, and did our best to find out the answers by working scientifically. In the afternoon we had our science roadshow all about electricity, it was shockingly good fun! Take a look at some of the pictures below!
As part of our science topic of states of matter, Year 4 had the pleasure of welcoming United Utilities into our classroom to learn all about the water cycle, water safety and the important part united utilities play in providing us with clean water for all the jobs we use it for. We learnt a huge amount and have all vowed to be more conscious of the water we use. Have a look at some of the pictures from our day below!
Hello from Year 4 and welcome back to another exciting term! We hope that you have had a relaxing winter break and that the children are feeling refreshed and ready for both lots of work and fun this term.
During this term, alongside our Maths and English lessons, the class will be exploring The Ancient Greeks in our History lessons, finding out how sound is heard in science and during our RE lessons we will be thinking about how Christians are accepted into the Kingdom of God and the importance of the Easter story.
Homework will continue to be given out on a Friday, and remains unchanged, Children will be expected to learn 10 spellings a week, practice their times tables using the Times Table Rockstars website or mobile phone app and read with a parent or guardian at least 3 times a week.
All aspects of the children’s homework are incredibly important parts of their learning and helps your children immeasurably. We appreciate this help and support at home.
PE will continue to be taught on a Monday afternoon which will be followed by dance, both of which will be done indoors. Children will be required to wear a full school PE kit with appropriate footwear.
As well as PE, year 4 are also going swimming this term on a Friday afternoon, children will need a full swimming kit and any girls who have their ears pierced will either need to take ear rings out before swimming or cover them up with a swimming cap.
It is important for health and well-being that your child has access to fresh water throughout the day. Please make sure that your child has a water bottle in school, which can be taken home as required.
Please do not hesitate to share any concerns or ask any questions that you may have throughout the year, as we would welcome support and open communication.
