In the Government statement released earlier this week, it was stated that “schools will still need to look after the children of key workers – such as NHS staff – but also the most vulnerable pupils. This is to ensure public services can continue to operate.”
We have already sent out the government guidance on childcare for key workers but feel we need to draw attention to this morning’s update as it is key that we protect our community by reducing unnecessary risk.
The latest Government guidance states:
‘if children can stay safely at home, they should, to limit the chance of the virus spreading.’
‘schools to remain open only for those children who absolutely need to attend’
‘The fewer the children in educational settings, the lower the risk that the virus can spread and infect vulnerable individuals in wider society’
‘Limited number of children – children who are vulnerable and children whose parents are critical to the COVID-19 response and cannot be safely cared for at home.’
Whilst we appreciate that school closures have a significant impact on everybody, it is vital that children are not brought into school unless it is absolutely unavoidable. Therefore, please consider this guidance before making any decision.
Working together at this difficult and uncertain time to ensure we limit the possibility of infection is crucial as there is no one that isn’t at risk. Everyone at LSJ is wholly committed to protecting and ensuring the welfare of all our children and staff so that we can resume normal school life as soon as possible.
Thanking you again for your understanding and support in this matter.
