We hope that you all had a relaxing break and that the children are refreshed and ready for some challenges!
During the second part of the Spring term, we will be studying ‘Brazil’ in Geography. In Science, our topic is ‘Earth and Space’.
Our class novel is ‘The Water Horse’ by Dick King-Smith, so the majority of our literacy work will evolve around this wonderful story.
In maths, our focus is fractions, decimals and percentages.
The children will have PE on a Wednesday and Dance on a Thursday. Please ensure that their kit is in school. Their indoor kit should include shorts, t-shirt and pumps. Providing a tracksuit and trainers for outdoors would also be a good idea.
Please make sure a water bottle is provided, which can be filled in school each day.
Dinner and snack money
Your child can buy a healthy snack in school for morning playtime. If they require a school dinner, please ensure the correct money is supplied, in an envelope, including your child’s name and year group.
It is important that your child reads at home as much as possible. The ‘Reading Record Diary’ needs to be signed, by an adult, at least 3-times per week.
English and maths homework will usually be given out weekly, on a Friday, and should be handed in the following Wednesday.
Sometimes the children may be given an extended homework project relating to a topic to complete over a longer period.
Maths homework aims to consolidate what the children have learnt in class. In addition, please encourage your child to practise times tables at home. Websites such as http://www.topmarks.co.uk are useful for this.
Spellings will also be given on a Friday with a test the following week.
If your child struggles with any of the work, please don’t hesitate to speak to us, or write a note in his/her homework book.
Please feel free to come and discuss any queries or concerns you may have.
