Year 3 Homework – Due 14th October 2020

Please find below a list of this week’s homework.

  • MyMaths (Adding 10s and 100s) – Due Wednesday 14th October.
  • English – Reading comprehension on Google Classroom. Go into the ‘Homework’ folder. Due Wednesday 14th October.
  • Spelling Shed (the ‘ch’ sound spelt ‘-ture’) – Practise at home 3 times this week.
  • TT Rockstars – Practise at home 3 times this week.
  • Reading Eggspress / Reading Plus – Children should be aiming for 3 separate 20 minute sessions on these websites to meet the requirement for reading at home. Please ensure that, for those children who use Reading Eggs, they are using the Reading Eggspress part of this website for their home reading. I have set a book and a comprehension task.

Dojo points will be awarded to all children who complete their Maths and English homework on time and to children who are reading at least 3 times each week. This will be checked by Miss Connolly and Mrs Forshaw daily.

In addition, if children read more than the expected amount, complete all of their homework on time and they remain on ‘green’ on our class behaviour system all week, they will be entered into a class raffle to be a member of ‘Always Club’. If chosen, they will win a lovely treat and prize during our celebration worship on Friday!

Thank you for your support.

Sewing Sensations!

Today Year 3 started our DT topic. We learned how to tie a knot, thread a needle and we learned how to do a running stitch. The children were fantastic and they persevered even when they were tied up in knots! They all worked independently and Miss Connolly and Mrs Forshaw are so proud of their achievements.

Welcome to Y3

Our first week in Year 3

Miss Connolly and Mrs Forshaw have loved meeting our lovely new Year 3 class this week!

As a class, we have spent our first few days in school getting to know each other and learning about how we are keeping safe in school.

We tested our children on our summer challenge of naming the bones in the human body and the amount of information the children have already learned at home has left us teachers speechless (well done parents/carers for your fabulous work too!).

The children have really enjoyed spending time on their own individual laptops that they all receive when they start Year 3, and have been practising key ICT skills and our times tables on TT Rockstars. We have also been doing lots of art and craft work and the children have particularly enjoyed making BFG dream jars for a display in our corridor. Our jars describe our hopes and dreams for Year 3 and beyond, which we painted with watercolour paints and decorated with sequins.

We have all had such a lovely first few days together and are looking forward to starting our Year 3 learning next week.

Year 3 2020-2021
