Hello Year 3,

I hope you have had a lovely week. I can see lots of you have been working really hard at home and I am very proud of you! Keep up the great work.

Here are your home learning tasks for this week;-

1.Daily Maths and English on BBC Bitesize

These lessons are recommended by the government and are set at Year 3 level. Make sure you are doing the Year 3 tasks and not the other year groups! I know some of you have made this mistake before!

2.TT Rockstars

Practice your times tables at least 3 times each week. By the end of Year 3 (which isn’t far away now!) you need to know your 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 10 times tables off by heart so that you are ready for Year 4.

3. MyMaths

This week I have set you some revision work on our number work. Please log in and complete the tasks I have set from the list below.

  • Counting in 3s
  • Counting in 4s
  • Greater than and less than
  • Estimating amounts

4. Spelling Shed

You all have new spellings set for this week.

I’ve set some new tests for you to complete. Please check for the new tests.

6. Reading on Purple Mash’s Serial Mash

This week I’d like you to start a new book I have set for you called ‘The Switcher’.

-Read Chapters 1, 2 and 3 and answer the multiple choice questions for the end of each chapter.

7. Pobble 365

I am letting you choose any Pobble activity you want again this week. Have a look through the calendar and find one you like. Complete the usual sections (Story Starter, Question Time and Perfect Picture) for your chosen image. I know some of you have been really enjoying this task and have been sending me your brilliant work on Purple Mash!

8. P.E with Joe Wicks

Joe isn’t doing this everyday now sadly as he needs a bit of a break, but you can watch his older videos and re-do some of them!

There are also some really good videos on YouTube for children’s Zumba! We have been doing some of these with the children currently in school. Have a go, they’re good fun and good exercise.

9. R.E

Daily prayer from the Church of England

For the past few weeks, we have been looking at the religion of Islam and thinking about what is similar and different about this religion to Christianity. This week, we are going to be looking at a new faith called ‘Buddhism’. Buddhism is the faith we learn about in Year 3 during ‘Faith Week’.

Read the PowerPoint below about the story of The Buddha.

The Story of The Buddha – The Buddha was a religious leader and founder of Buddhism. Buddhists follow the teachings of the Buddha in their everyday lives.

6 Box Storyboard Template – Using this template, I’d like you to create a storyboard to show the story of The Buddha. If you can’t print this, you can draw the pictures and write about each part of the story in your home learning book.

This half term, we would be learning about Light and Shadows in school. Last week you looked at sun safety and in particular protecting our eyes from the sun.

Read through the PowerPoint below and complete the tasks as you go along.

Take care everyone,
